Where Do I Fax My PSLF Form – A PSLF is used to report to Social Security Administration, or IRS, payments that you pay to cover the costs of your pension as well as other benefits. It’s easy to fill out and can save you both time and money. The form contains many sections, including Employer information, payment details that count toward PSLF, and recertification of the employment.
The payments count towards PSLF
PSLF includes payments from all types of payments. These include federal student loans, repayment plans and other types. To be eligible you must make at least 120 qualifying monthly payments within the last 10 years. The best way to ensure that you’re making eligible payments is to establish automatic payments.
PSLF had previously demanded that you have the proper payments and be on a repayment plan. However, in recent times the federal government has expanded its eligibility criteria to allow late payments beginning in 2007. These changes also increase the repayment options and types of loans that PSLF will allow. Jon Toppen is Director at MEA UniServ and leads trainings on how to get PSLF eligibility.
Anyone who has received a deferment from the Economic Hardship Deferment Program can also access the PSLF program. If you had these loans prior to January 1st, 2013, your payments to PSLF will be counted. In the past, only payments on federal student loans through the Federal Family Education Loan program could count towards PSLF.
PSLF technically qualifies for Direct Parent Plus loans, as long as the parent is in a job that qualifies as eligible. Parents cannot be eligible for PSLF benefits in the event that the Direct Parent Plus Loan has been converted into an Federal Direct Consolidation Loan.
Recertification
An essential step to apply for the PSLF loan forgiveness is the recertification of employment on the PSLF form. In order to be eligible to participate in the program, borrowers must work for a public interest employer, for example, a nonprofit or government agency for at least 10 years. Furthermore, they must have made 120 loan-related qualifying payments in the period. The process of recertifying employment on the PSLF form requires submitting it to MOHELA who will then review it and let the borrower know how many qualifying loan repayments they’ve made.
Every year, or when your position changes If your job is changed, you need to fill out the PSLF Form. This will confirm your eligibility to the program. The loan will be transferred automatically to MOHELA, which is the agency that manages the program. After you have completed the form all supporting documents that prove that you are still working must be provided.
To complete the PSLF employment certificate, you will be asked for personal information like your name, Social Security number and date of birth. To confirm any updates to your information it is required to check a box. Once you’ve completed this form, it is necessary to check the legal acknowledgment box. This will confirm that the information is correct. Finally, you have to complete and date the PSLF Employment certification form, which will be sent to the Department of Education.
You can change your employment status using the PSLF form in the event that you’re employed at a qualifying public agency or public sector.
