PSLF Tracking Form

PSLF Tracking Form – The PSLF form lets you submit to the Social Security Administration (or the IRS) any payments that you make in order to pay for pensions or other benefits. It’s very simple to complete and will reduce time as well as cash. It includes sections such as employer information, payments that count toward PSLF and recertifying employment.

PSLF-compliant payments

Any kind of payment is eligible for PSLF including federal student loans and repayment plans. You must have made minimum 120 qualifying payment in the last ten-years to be qualified for this program. The most effective way to be sure that you’re making qualifying payments is to set up automatic payments.

PSLF was previously a requirement to pay the appropriate payments and adhere to an arrangement for repayment. But, recently, the federal government expanded the eligibility requirements to include late payments starting in 2007. PSLF’s loan acceptances and repayment options have been widened due to the changes. Jon Toppen, MEA UniServ Director, conducts training for members in order to assist them in obtaining PSLF.

The PSLF program is also open to people who had a deferment in the Economic Hardship Deferment program. Loan payments will be considered for PSLF when you received them before January 1, 2013. PSLF used to be limited to payments for federal student loans via the Federal Family Education Loans Program.

PSLF can technically be used to Direct Parent Plus Loans, as provided that the parent has an occupation that is qualified. Parent can only benefit from PSLF when their Direct Parent Plus Loans are transformed into Federal Direct Consolidation Loans.

Recertification

The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you have been recertified as an employee. To be eligible for this program, borrowers must be been employed for at least 10 years consecutively by an employer with public interest such as a public agency or non-profit. Furthermore, they must have made 120 loan-related qualifying payments in that time. In order to submit the PSLF form to recertify your employment requires that you send the form to MOHELA. MOHELA will review it, and let you know the number of qualifying payments you’ve made.

Every year, or when your work is changing, you must complete your PSLF Form. This will confirm your eligibility to the program. The loan will automatically transfer to MOHELA which is the agency that manages the program. Once you submit the form all documents supporting your claim that prove you are still working must be submitted.

When filling out the PSLF employment certificate, you will be asked for personal information like your name, Social Security number and the date of birth. In order to confirm any changes to your personal information it is required to tick a checkbox. After you have completed the form, you will be asked to confirm the accuracy of the information by ticking a box. It is also necessary to confirm and date the PSLF Employment Certificate Form, that will be then sent to Department of Education.

Recognizing your employment status can be done using the PSLF Form, as long as you work in a public service that is qualified or government organization. This form can affect the amount of your PSLF payment, late partial payments, or lump sum payments. To be eligible for PSLF it is necessary to submit the PSLF application by the deadline regardless of whether or not you are employed in a public or private sector.
