PSLF TePSLF Form – A PSLF form is used to document your payments to the Social Security Administration, or the IRS, that you make to cover the cost of pensions and other benefits. Payouts which count towards PSLF
PSLF will count any type payments made, including those that are part of federal student loan repayment plans. Prior to January 1 2013, only federal student loans through the Federal Family Education Loan Program could be considered to be considered for PSLF.
PSLF is technically available to Direct Parent Plus Loans, as long as the parent holds an occupation that is qualified. However until the Direct Parent Plus Loan is changed to an Federal Direct Consolidation Loan, the parent cannot benefit from PSLF.
Recertification of Employment
The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you recertified your employment. To be eligible for the program, applicants have to be employed by a public-interest employer, like a nonprofit or government agency for a minimum of 10 years. Additionally, you must make a 120 qualified loan payments in this period. You must complete the PSLF form to confirm your employment. MOHELA will then review the form and inform the borrower the number of qualifying loan repayments they’ve made.
The PSLF form should be filled out every year or when you make a change in your job. This will allow you qualify to participate in the program. It also transfers the loan to MOHELA (the agency that administers it). Once you have completed the application, you’ll need to provide supporting documents to prove that you are still working.
It is necessary to fill in the PSLF employment certification form with your personal information, including your name and Social Security number. The form also requires you to tick an option to confirm any changes to the information. When you’ve completed the form you’ll be asked to verify the accuracy of the information by ticking a box. Then, you must sign and date the PSLF Employment certificate form. It will be sent to Department of Education.
If you’re employed by a qualified government agency or public service or public service agency, the PSLF allows you to renew your employment status.
