Recertification

The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you have renewed your certification of employment. To be eligible for the program, borrowers must be been employed for at least 10 years consecutively by an employer of public interest, such as a public agency or a non-profit. Additionally, you must make a 120 qualifying loan payment during this time. To recertify employment using the PSLF form, you need to provide it to MOHELA. They will examine the form and notify you of the amount of qualifying loan payments have been made.

Every year, or whenever you change jobs and you are relocating, or if you have a change of job, PSLF form needs to be filled out. This allows you to qualify for this program. MOHELA will then transfer the loan. Once you’ve completed the application and submitted it, you must provide any supporting documents that prove you’re employed.

The PSLF employment certification form requires you to submit personal information, including your name, Social Security numbers, birth date, address, phone number, email address, and the date of birth. In order to confirm any changes the form will ask you to mark a checkbox. Once you have completed the form you will be asked for a legal acknowledgment to verify that the information provided is correct. Finally, you have to confirm and date the PSLF employment certification form which will be sent to the Department of Education.

If you’re employed in a qualified government agency or public service or public service agency, the PSLF can allow you to recertify your employment status. This form could affect the amount of your PSLF payments as well as late partial payment and lump sum payments. If you’re employed by a public service or private company, you’ll have to complete the PSLF application before the due date to qualify for PSLF.
