PSLF Form For Teachers – The PSLF form permits you to submit to the Social Security Administration (or the IRS) all payments you make in order to pay for pensions or other benefits. It’s not hard to fill out and it can save you time and cash. The form has several sections including employer information and payments that count towards PSLF, recertifying employment, and payment information.
PSLF Payments
Any kind of payment could count towards PSLF including federal student loans and repayment plans. To be eligible to be eligible, you must have made at the minimum of 120 qualifying monthly installments in the last 10 years. Create automatic debit payments to be sure that you receive qualifying payments.
PSLF used to require the correct amount and type of repayments. However, the federal government recently extended the eligibility requirements for the program, accepting late payments starting in 2007. PSLF now allows a greater variety of loan types as well as repayment plans. Jon Toppen, Director of MEA UniServ provides training to members about how to apply for PSLF.
People who have received a deferment under Economic Hardship Deferment Program may also access the PSLF program. If the loans were made prior to January 1st, 2013, the repayments from them will count towards PSLF. In the past, only payments on federal student loans under the Federal Family Education Loan program would count toward PSLF.
PSLF is technically qualified to receive Direct Parent Plus Loans, provided that the parent works in an occupation that qualifies. Parents are only eligible for PSLF when their Direct Parent Plus Loans are converted into Federal Direct Consolidation Loans.
