PSLF Payments
PSLF includes payments from all types of payments. This includes federal student loans or repayment plans as well as other kinds of payments. You must have made at least 120 eligible payments over the past 10 years to be eligible for the program. To ensure that you’re making payments that are eligible make sure you set up automatic debit payments.
PSLF was previously subject to certain repayment and payment plans. However the federal government has increased its eligibility criteria by allowing late payment as a condition for the program. PSLF’s loan acceptances as well as the options for repayment have been broadened by the new changes. Jon Toppen from MEA UniServ offers training courses that assist members to qualify for PSLF.
For those who have been granted a deferment to the Economic Hardship Deferment, the PSLF is also available. The loans you receive be considered for PSLF in the event that they were received prior to January 1 January 1, 2013. In the past, loans that were made through federal student loans under the Federal Family Education Loan program were not eligible to be counted towards PSLF.
PSLF eligibility is technically possible in Direct Parent PLUS Loans, as long as the parent holds an eligible job. Parents can only benefit from PSLF if they are eligible for PSLF if their Direct Parent Plus Loans are transformed into Federal Direct Consolidation Loans.
