Direct Parent Plus Loans are technically qualified for PSLF provided that the parent is in an employment with a qualifying position. However in the event that the Direct Parent Plus Loan is transformed into the Federal Direct Consolidation Loan, the parent is not eligible for PSLF.
Recertification
The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you recertified your employment. To be eligible for the program, applicants must have been employed for a minimum of 10 years consecutively by an employer with public interest such as a government agency or nonprofit. In addition, they must make 120 qualifying loan payments during this time. In order to recertify your employment by using the PSLF form, you need to send it to MOHELA. They will review it and inform you how many qualifying loans payments have been completed.
Each year, or when you make a change in jobs or a change in your job, when you change jobs, the PSLF form must also be submitted. This will verify your eligibility for the program. The loan will be automatically transferred to MOHELA, which is the agency that oversees the program. Once you submit the form the documents supporting your claim that prove you’re still employed must be submitted.
To get the PSLF job certification the applicant must provide personal information. It includes your name, Social Security Number, date of birth , and address. In order to confirm any changes you’ll be asked to tick a box. Once you have completed the form, you will be asked for legal acknowledgement to confirm that the information you have provided is correct. The PSLF Employment Certification Form has to be filled out and signed by the applicant. This form is addressed directly to the Department of Education.
