Recertification of Employment
Recognizing employment on the PSLF form is a vital requirement for submitting an application to the PSLF loan forgiveness program. For the PSLF loan forgiveness program to be valid the borrowers have to have been employed by an organization that is public in nature, such as a non-profit or government agency for a minimum of 10 years. Furthermore, they need to have made at least 120 loan repayments that qualify for the program during this time. The process of recertifying employment on the PSLF form involves submitting it to MOHELA and they will look over it and let the borrower know how many qualifying loan payments they have made.
Every year, or when your job is changed, you must complete the PSLF Form. This will help ensure that you qualify for the program and automatically transfer your loan to MOHELA which is the organization which manages the program. Once you’ve filled out the application it is required to provide any documentation to show that you’re still working.
In order to complete the PSLF employment certificate form, you’ll be asked for personal information such as your name, Social Security number and date of birth. The form also asks you to mark an option to confirm any changes made to the information. Once you have completed the form you will be asked for legal acknowledgment to verify that the information you have provided is correct. Then, you need to sign and date the PSLF Employment certification form, which is sent to the Department of Education.
As long as your employment is with a government agency or in a public service, you can verify the validity of your employment using the PSLF form. This form could impact the amount of your PSLF payments, as also late partial payments and lump sum payments. To be eligible for PSLF eligibility, you will need to complete the PSLF Form by the time of the deadline.
