The past, payments made via federal student loans under the Federal Family Education Loan program were not considered eligible for PSLF.
Direct Parent Plus Loans are technically eligible to be eligible for PSLF provided that the parent is employed in an employment with a qualifying position. Parents are not eligible for PSLF benefits until the Direct Parent Plus Loan has been converted to an Federal Direct Consolidation Loan.
Recertification
A vital step to applying to be eligible for PSLF loan forgiveness is the recertification of employment using the PSLF form. You must also sign and date the PSLF Employment Certificate Form, which is then forwarded to the Department of Education.
If you’re employed in an agency of government that is qualified or public service and are a member of the public service, the PSLF can allow you to renew your status as an employee. This form could affect your PSLF payments, as also late partial payments as well as lump sum payment.
