PSLF Payments

Previously, only payments for federal student loans through the Federal Family Education Loan program will count towards PSLF.
PSLF is technically eligible to receive Direct Parent Plus Loans, provided that the parent works in a job that is eligible. However until the Direct Parent Plus Loan is converted to a Federal Direct Consolidation Loan, the parent will not be eligible for PSLF.
Recertification of employment
An essential step to apply for PSLF loan forgiveness is recertification of employment using the PSLF form. In order to qualify for the program, applicants must be employed by a public-interest employer, like a nonprofit or government agency, for at least 10 years. In addition, they must make 120 qualifying loan payments during the period. To recertify employment with the PSLF form, you must submit the form to MOHELA. They will go through it and tell you how many qualifying loans payments have been completed.
Every year, or when your job is changed, you must complete your PSLF Form. This will allow you to qualify for the program. MOHELA will then transfer the loan. Once you have submitted the form , you’ll have submit additional documents to show that you’re still employed.
The PSLF employment certification form requires you to submit details about yourself, such as the name of your child, Social Security numbers, birth date, address, phone number, email address, and date of birth. The form also requires you to check the box to confirm any changes to the information. Once you’ve completed this form, you’ll have to check the legal acknowledgment box. This will ensure that the information is correct. Lastly, you must sign and date the PSLF employment certification form, which is sent to the Department of Education.
In the event that your position is at a government agency or public service, you can confirm the status of your job on the PSLF form. This form could affect your PSLF payments, as well as late partial payments and lump sum payments.
