PSLF Application Employment Certification Form – The PSLF form lets you provide the Social Security Administration (or the IRS) all payments you make to pay for pension or other benefits. It’s simple to fill in and will help you save time and cash. There are numerous sections to the form, which include information regarding your employer, details about payments that count towards PSLF and the re-certification of your work.
PSLF payments that are deemed to be a part of the PSLF
PSLF takes into account payments made from any type of payment. These include federal student loans or repayment plans as well as other forms of payment. For you to be eligible you must make at minimum 120 qualifying monthly payments within the last 10 years. Automated debit payments are the most efficient method to ensure that you are making qualified payments.
PSLF had previously required certain types of payments and repayment plans. But the federal government recently increased the program’s eligibility requirements. It will accept late payments starting in 2007. The new rules also broaden the repayment plans and types of loans that PSLF will accept. Anyone who has been granted a deferment through the Economic Hardship Deferment Program can also access the PSLF program. If you received these loans prior to January 1st of 2013, your payments to PSLF will be counted. In the past, only payments on federal student loans made through the Federal Family Education Loan program could count towards PSLF.
PSLF is technically qualified to receive Direct Parent Plus Loans, provided that the parent is employed in an occupation that qualifies. Parents can only benefit from PSLF when they are eligible for PSLF if their Direct Parent Plus Loans are converted into Federal Direct Consolidation Loans.
Recertification of employment
A vital step to applying to be eligible for PSLF loan forgiveness is recertification of employment on the PSLF form. To be qualified for the program, borrowers must be been employed for a minimum of 10 consecutive years by an employer with public interest such as a government agency or nonprofit. Furthermore, they need to have completed at least 120 loan repayments that qualify for the program during this time. MOHELA reviews the PSLF Form and informs the borrower the number of loan repayments that qualify for a loan they’ve made.
You have to fill out the PSLF form every year, or whenever you change your job. This will allow you to qualify for the program. MOHELA will then transfer the loan. After you’ve completed the form it is necessary to attach any supporting documents to prove that you’re still employed.
