Navient PSLF Form – In order to report the payment to Social Security Administration or the IRS to cover the cost of pensions and other benefits, a PSLF form can be used. It’s simple to fill out and will help you save time and cash. It has sections that include employer information, payment amounts that count toward PSLF and recertification of the employment.
Payouts that are counted towards PSLF
Any type of payment can count towards PSLF including federal student loans and repayment plans. You must have received minimum 120 qualifying payments in the last ten-years to be eligible to participate in this program. Set up automatic debit payments to make sure you are receiving qualified payments.
PSLF had previously demanded that you have the proper payments and be on a repayment plan. However, in recent times the federal government has expanded its eligibility criteria to accept late payments starting in 2007. PSLF accepts more types of repayment plans and loans in the new rules. The PSLF program is also open to people who were granted a deferment through the Economic Hardship Deferment Program. The loans you receive be counted towards PSLF when they were received prior to January 1 January 1, 2013. PSLF used to be limited to payments for federal student loans via the Federal Family Education Loans Program.
PSLF can be used for Direct Parent PLUS Loans provided the parent has a qualified job. Parents can only benefit from PSLF when they are eligible for PSLF if their Direct Parent Plus Loans are converted into Federal Direct Consolidation Loans.
Recertification of employment
The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you recertified your employment. To be eligible for the program, borrowers must work for a public-interest employer, such as an agency of government or a non-profit organization, for at least 10 years. In addition, the borrower must have made at least 120 qualified loan payments in the time frame. You have to fill out the PSLF form every year, or when you switch jobs. This will make sure that you qualify to participate in the program. It will also immediately transfer your loan to MOHELA, the agency that administers the program. After you’ve completed the form and submitted it, you must attach any supporting documents that prove you’re employed.
