Direct Parent Plus Loans are technically qualified to be eligible for PSLF in the event that the parent is employed in an employment with a qualifying position. Parent cannot receive PSLF benefits until the Direct Parent Plus Loan has been converted into the Federal Direct Consolidation Loan.
Recertifying employment
The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires that you have recertified your employment. To be eligible for this program, borrowers must have been employed for at least 10 years consecutively by an employer with public interest like a government agency or nonprofit. Additionally, you must make a 120 qualifying loan payment throughout this time. Submitting the PSLF form to recertify employment requires you to provide it to MOHELA. MOHELA will review the form and inform you of how many qualifying payments you’ve made.
The PSLF must be completed every year. This will ensure that you’re eligible to participate in the program. In addition, it will transfer the loan to MOHELA which administers the program. Once you’ve completed the form, you need to attach any supporting documents to prove that you’re employed.
In order to complete the PSLF employment certificate form, you’ll be asked to fill in personal details like your name, Social Security number and date of birth. The form also requires you to mark the box for any modifications to this information. Once you’ve completed the form you’ll need to tick the box to affirm that the information you entered is correct.
