Recertification of employment
The PSLF loan forgiveness program requires you to have been recertified as an employee. The borrower must be employed by an employer that is in the public sector for a minimum of 10 years before they can be considered to participate in this program. In addition, they must make 120 loan-related qualifying payments in this time. Submitting the PSLF form to recertify employment is a requirement that you provide the form to MOHELA. MOHELA will review it, and notify you of the number of qualifying payments you have made.
Every year, or when your position changes You must fill out the PSLF Form. This will prove your eligibility for the program. The loan will be automatically transferred to MOHELA which is the agency that manages the program. After you’ve completed the application and submitted it, you must attach any supporting documents to prove that you’re still employed.
To complete the PSLF employment certificate form, you’ll be asked to provide personal information like your name, Social Security number and date of birth. To confirm any changes to your personal information the form requires you to check a box. After you’ve completed the form you’ll have to check a box to acknowledge that the information has been accurate. Then, you need to sign and date the PSLF employment certification form which will be sent to the Department of Education.
If you’re employed by an agency of government that is qualified or public service or public service agency, the PSLF can allow you to recertify your employment status. Be aware that the form may affect the amount of your PSLF payments. This applies to late partial payments, lump sum payments, as well as PSLF payments.
